APM Terminals-operated Gateway Terminals India closed its gates Sunday after truck drivers protesting intermittent gate closings at the facility violently clashed with police at the Nhave Sheva port complex.

Local shipping sources said the port’s largest container facility has experienced serious gate-in problems in the past few days following a strike by crane operators.

Officials said the protesters torched a security outpost in the harbor and also a police vehicle. “Around 20 protesters have been detained for questioning,” they said.
