Appeals court clears Viterra in 2011 death of grain-terminal worker

Saskatchewan’s highest court has dismissed an appeal against a Regina-based agribusiness accused of negligence in the death of a worker in 2011.

Federal Crown prosecutors had charged Viterra — which has since been purchased by Glencore — with six violations of the Canada Labour Code.

Halifax Port Authority reaches agreement with longshoremen

Dr K Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated the Halifax Port Authority and the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1843 on the renewal of their collective agreement on March 11.

The collective agreement, which covers general operation and maintenance employees, expired on December 31, 2014.
