More than three years after a major deal was announced that would bring thousands of jobs and a billion dollars to the Jacksonville economy, there has been another hitch in the plan.

According to the Jaxport website, the date to have a new port facility for Korean shipping company Hanjin has been pushed back. Construction on the 90-acre, $300 million facility is now anticipated to begin within two years.

Both sides signed the deal in December 2008. … At the time, it was expected to be reopened by 2011.
