The Federal Maritime Commission Chairman Mario Cordero will host a forum Monday at the Port of Los Angeles to address factors causing port congestion, use of technology to reduce congestion, infrastructure, increasing global efficiency and more, the FMC said Friday.

The Los Angeles forum kicks off a series of events in which all four commissioners and the chairman will meet with the public. Baltimore and New Orleans forums are set for October 1 and November 3, respectively. A fourth forum will likely take place in the Southeastern US.

The upcoming sessions were described as “notable” and a “pulse-taking” measure by the FMC source. There is no established result to be gained from the forums, such as a mandate for necessary changes or a study.
