Rail and marine equipment builder Greenbrier says demand recently began to rise for new railcars and barges, along with more used railcars coming into its shops for repairs. That bounce is showing up “in improved new order conditions both for railcars and marine in our manufacturing segment, and for wheels repair and refurbishment” said a company executive. … New rail freight traffic is leading several major railroads to pull significant numbers of parked railcars out of storage to get back into freight service, he said, which is sending some to Greenbrier shops for repairs.
