From the Journal of Commerce:

In what could be the beginning of a larger effort to focus on working conditions and eventually organize the warehouse sector of the transportation industry, workers at a warehouse near the Port of Los Angeles walked off their jobs Tuesday, attracting the support of the Teamsters union.

The job action at California Cartage Company was sponsored by the Warehouse Worker Resource Center, a Southern California non-profit organization that educates workers on their rights and lobbies for higher wages and better working conditions in the logistics sector, said spokesman Sheheryar Kaoosji.

WWRC is not a labor union and is not affiliated with any union, Kaoosji said, although it welcomes the support of unions in its efforts to draw attention to working conditions in the warehouse sector, and the extensive use of staffing companies and third-party logistics providers to supply workers to warehouses.
