Gavilon Grain, LLC announced that it has acquired five grain elevators in the Rio Grande Valley area of South Texas with combined upright storage capacity of 5.4 million bushels.

Cris Brown, director of South Texas and Mexico, North American Grain, at Gavilon said the South Texas operations will complement Gavilon’s 15 facilities in Texas and Mexico, which supply grain to feedlots and animal processors.

Gavilon Group, based in Omaha, is the third largest grain merchandiser in the United States. It is owned by Marubeni Corp., Japan’s biggest agricultural trader.
