From the Portland Business Journal:

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union on Tuesday blamed ICTSI Oregon Inc. — the company hired to manage the Port of Portland’s sole container terminal — for the departure of the port’s largest shipping service, Hanjin Shipping.

“Hanjin’s stated departure from Portland rests solely on ICTSI’s inherent refusal and failure to nurture customer relations,” the union said in a statement. “ICTSI’s only interest is to leverage its regional monopoly for maximum short term and unit company profit. Its customers are secondary.”

South Korea-based Hanjin notified the port and its regional customers on Tuesday that it would end direct service to the Port of Portland as of March 9. Instead, the company said it will still serve the Portland market by sending containers by rail or truck from Seattle.
