Containerized imports moving through West Coast ports in June were up 10 percent from June 2013, according to statistics published on the PMA website. Exports increased 3 percent, and total container volume moving through West Coast ports was up 7 percent compared to June 2013.

Furthermore, it appears that container traffic at West Coast ports remained unusually strong well into July. Another PMA website metric, which measures ILWU man-hours paid, shows that longshoremen in the first three weeks of July worked significantly more hours this year than they did in July 2013.
