Malaysian International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said the government is discussing whether or not to bar the Israeli-owned ships docking at Malaysian ports.

On June 8, the Sun reported that a fleet belonging to Gold Star Lines, a subsidiary of Israel’s Zim Lines, had been calling on Malaysian ports … and that Gold Star had been incorporated in Hong Kong in 1958 in order to escape prohibitions placed on Israeli ships in Muslim countries like Malaysia that do not recognise Israel.

“We do not just want humanitarian aid to reach the people of Gaza, but also want Israel to lift the economic blockade on Gaza,” he said, adding that the government is continuing its efforts to increase pressure on Israel at the international level.
