Trucks at the Port of Los Angeles

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in September tossed out the Port of Los Angeles' mandate, which would have forced freight haulers to hire their drivers as employees. The neighboring Port of Long Beach enacted a version of the Clean Trucks Program that did not include the employee mandate.

A New York senator has introduced a bill that would allow seaports across the country to mimic the Port of Los Angeles’ version of the Clean Trucks Program, including a rejected provision aimed at limiting the types of drivers entering port terminals.
