From the Long Beach Press Telegram:

The City Council on Tuesday will hold a public hearing on two appeals of a recently approved environmental impact report for a terminal expansion at the Port of Long Beach.

In May, the Harbor Commission, which oversees operations at the port, certified Mitsubishi Cement Corp.’s environmental impact report on a terminal expansion that would enable the Henderson, Nev.-based company to accommodate increasing supplies of imported cement amid projected rising demand.

The appeals of the EIR certification were filed by environmental groups Earthjustice and the Coalition for a Safe Environment.

The City Council meets at 5 p.m. Tuesday at 333 W. Ocean Blvd.
