At the port of Zeebrugge, a man has died after he drove into the water with his car. The accident happened around 6:25 pm near the Alfred Ronsestraat.

It’s believed he made a wrong turn and drove a car into the Leopold Canal while working with longshoremen moving vehicles.

The weather conditions were also poor with heavy rain. Immediately a large rescue operation was put on the loom. Brugge fire department sent divers. Only after half an hour the divers managed to find the car in the water. The employee was found to be deceased. More information on the circumstances of the accident are not yet available.
