KING 5 reporter Alex Rozier reported this morning from a Port of Tacoma crane with ILWU Local 23 President Dean McGrath and ILWU crane operator Mike Hartman.

McGrath pointed out that “40% of Washington jobs are based in some form or fashion to this industry, and it’s important that we all recognize that, and we keep these ports thriving.”

Afterwards, Rozier told viewers: “The next time you see a port crane, think of the people who make them move, the same people who make this region run… I have a whole new respect for their work, especially when I think of all of the businesses throughout this region that benefit from the people who make these containers move on and off of the ships every single day.”
