Port of Long Beach (POLB) Chief Executive Director Jon Slangerup has been named by US Department of Commerce Penny Pritzker to the Department’s Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness (ACSSC), the port announced this week.

Slangerup and 10 other industry professionals who represent different segments of the supply chain were appointed to the 45-member ACSCC, including Gene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, according to the release.

The committee’s purpose is to propose solutions to the Obama administration for freight, transportation and logistics issues, to work with the US Secretary of Commerce, US Department of Transportation and other related government agencies.

The next meeting of the ACSCC is set for April 20 and 21 in Houston.
