The Port of Oakland is welcoming the new year with its own version of Big Ben — the cargo megaship CMA CGM Benjamin Franklin — which is the largest container carrier to visit the United States and the world’s 10th largest. It arrived in the San Francisco Bay on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015. The ship measures 1,300 feet long and 177 feet tall — longer than the Empire State Building is tall and wider than a football field.
