Hotel Splendid, Burkina Faso

In addition to the 29 people who were killed, more than 50 people were wounded in the attack in Burkina Faso.

The International Transport Workers’ Federation has condemned the terrorist attacks in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on 15 January, in which an activist in its civil aviation affiliate union the FSTAB (Fédération des Syndicats des Travailleurs et Auxiliaires du Transport du Burkina) and 28 other people were killed.

Joe Katende, ITF Africa regional secretary, commented: “We utterly condemn this act of terrorism against ordinary citizens and workers.

“This news was very shocking, and in particular the loss of one of our comrades. Many international trade unionists stay at the Hotel Splendid during their missions to Burkina Faso and we all know it and the staff there well.

“Our hearts go out to all the victims and their families, and to all the workers who were affected by this outrage.”
