Patricia

Our thoughts are with the people of Mexico as they face this horrendous storm.

Translated from an article in El Financiero:

Because of the magnitude of Hurricane Patricia, at least 30 percent of the port of Manzanillo, Colima, will be damaged, estimated harbormaster Jaime Peña.

“The most vulnerable areas are the entrance where Pemex docks are located, and we also believe that at least 30 percent of the port infrastructure is vulnerable to strong winds and high tides,” he said.

The port of Manzanillo is the most important Mexican port located in the Pacific Ocean based on cargo carried. According to Peña, between 12 and 15 ships arrive at the port daily.

“We expect that the port will remain closed for three days, but if there is damage the activities will resume when repairs are made.”

The port was closed yesterday at 8 pm for all types of vessels.
