Eric LaBrant, a candidate for the District 2 seat on the nonpartisan Port of Vancouver Board of Commissioners, has been endorsed by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 4, his campaign announced this week.

“The longshoremen and women rely on the port for 100 percent of their jobs,” LaBrant said in a news release. “I’m humbled to have earned their trust. And I’m grateful for their leadership in the fight against dangerous oil trains.”

The news release cites a letter received by the campaign from ILWU officials Cager Clabaugh and Scott Orrell. “It’s time for a serious change at the port, and we believe you are that change,” according to the letter.
