Port of Long Beach takes steps to add chassis

From the Press Telegram:

The Long Beach Harbor Commission voted unanimously Monday night to accept bids from companies interested in managing a new program to provide truckers with vital equipment to ease traffic congestion around the harbor.

The port’s plan calls for the winner of the bids to initially deploy 1,000 chassis. Another 2,000 chassis could be added to the pool at port officials’ discretion. Members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union would be hired to maintain the chassis.
