A ship hauling four quay cranes ordered by DP World for a new terminal and made by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (ZPMC) has docked at Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Port.

The move is somewhat contentious due to ZPMC, a Chinese state-owned port crane constructor, being barred from supplying its product to Indian ports.

Livemint reports that JN port is aware of the ban on ZPMC cranes and is not blocking the arrival of the cranes by refraining from seeking clearance from the relevant security agencies.

JN port reportedly admits there is lack of clarity on the move to bar ZPMC cranes as the Indian government has not disclosed the reason for the ban.
