Los Angeles, Long Beach port imports up in September

Inbound traffic at the Port of Los Angeles rose 3.4 percent in September from a year ago, but inched up only 0.7 perent at the Port of Long Beach.

However, exports fell at both ports, by 2.6 percent in Los Angeles and by 2.8 percent in Long Beach.

Total traffic at Port of L.A. rose 5.6 percent last month from last year to 744,923 TEUs, but fell 2.9 percent at Port of Long Beach to 512,020 TEUs. A TEU equals one 20-foot-long cargo container.
