Ray Fam MUNZ March 2012

Ray Familathe, ILWU International Vice President for the Mainland, seen here in black, has joined MUNZ families on the picket line. The workers are now in the second week of strike action at the Ports of Auckland.

Hundreds of Aucklanders gathered outside the Ports of Auckland Sunday to support the cause of Ports of Auckland workers to defend secure jobs and family life.

Maritime Union National President Garry Parsloe says the day provided an insight into what the dispute at the port was all about.

He says the workers were thrilled to hear from the Vice President (Mainland) of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU), Ray Familathe, who had travelled from California to meet with Ports of Auckland workers and speak at Sunday’s event.
