An all-water service connecting Asia and Houston using the Panama Canal will begin operating April 29 from Shanghai, arriving in Port of Houston on May 28.

The Gulf of Mexico Express service will become the first such route from China to the port in nearly 10 years.

The run by COSCO Container Lines Americas, Inc., one of the world’s largest container carriers, marks the beginning of an era that offers importers and exporters an all-water option with Houston as first port of call inbound and last port of call outbound.
