Hong-Kong based port operator Hutchinson Port Holdings (HPH) has denied reports that Mexico’s transport and communications ministry (SCT) has awarded a concession for a second container terminal at Lázaro Cárdenas port.

Reports July 11 that a concession was awarded to SSA Marine are “completely erroneous,” HPH spokesperson Eduardo Rodríguez told BNamericas. SCT is due to award the tender October 18, according to the current schedule. However, an ongoing legal process could block the process.

The Mexican federal court ruled in January against the validity of the tender. SCT took the matter to the appeals court and a decision is still outstanding, BNamericas reported previously.
