At least 10% of children and adolescents in Costa Rica perform some kind of work to survive, according to the Ministra de Trabajo (Labour Ministry), Sandra Piszk.

Last week the Labour ministry signed the “Reglamento a la Ley sobre Trabajos Peligrosos” (regulations to the Law on Hazardous Work), aimed at protecting minors.

According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), around 115 million children and adolescents engaged in hazardous work around world, which can harm the health, safety and morals of children.
