The Fair Work Ombudsman has launched two prosecutions against the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) alleging unlawful industrial actions at Fremantle and Broome.

The first case relates to alleged unlawful industrial action by 113 employees of marine terminal operator DP World at the Fremantle port in May 2009, the Ombudsman said in a statement on Thursday.

It alleges the union and the two officials organised the employees to go on strike for about 24 hours from the afternoon of May 19. … The second case relates to an alleged unlawful strike by 15 employees of the Broome Port Authority in March 2010.
