The Port of Prince Rupert is facing a potential work stoppage in near future, one that could see the entire Asia-Pacific Gateway close down. Members of [ILWU Local 505], have recently held a strike vote, along with other chapters from all over British Columbia.

The union’s negotiating team has not yet decided to release the results of the strike vote. But they are allegedly not the only ones moving toward a port closure. The union says that the B.C. Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) filed the federal paperwork that enabled them to start a lockout around a month ago.
