Hampton Affiliates might start shipping lumber from Port of Astoria facilities, Port Commissioner Bill Hunsinger reported at a meeting Tuesday night.
Currently, lumber is shipped overseas by stuffing it into containers first and then loading it on a ship, Hampton’s CEO. Hampton is opting for a more direct method, loading the lumber straight onto a ship, Hunsinger said at Tuesday’s meeting.
