In 2010, the state’s three principal seaports boosted their collective number of outbound loaded containers by 9.2 percent. The Port of Oakland actually lost ground, slipping by 1.3 percent. But the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach compensated, with a combined increase of 12.7 percent.

Export tonnage through California’s airports, meanwhile, rose 15.6 percent at San Francisco International and 18.1 percent at Los Angeles International.
