With a grain terminal coming on line in 2011, along with a pipe-manufacturing plant, Port of Longview officials are “very upbeat” about the coming year.

EGT’s $200 million grain terminal is expected to come on line and loading ships in the third quarter of 2011, a spokesperson said. Though it will be less than half a year of production, port officials are projecting about 2.3 million metric tons of grain will be shipped to Asia.

The Port of Kalama’s largest grain terminal expects is continuing its efforts to beef up operations and should be up and running by mid-year. Kalama Export LLC is spending $36 million to construct a grain cleaner building, a new loading belt and eight shipping silos, bringing its capacity to 12. … United Harvest LLC is expanding its rail lines to allow trains to unload grain more quickly and building a new dock for grain exports.
