Cowlitz County commissioners will vote at 10 a.m. Tuesday on whether to approve a shoreline permit for an Australia-based company to build a coal export facility at the former Reynolds aluminum site.

Millennium Bulk Logistics, a subsidiary of Australian coal giant Ambre Energy, is seeking to export about 5 million tons of coal annually to Asia, mostly China, through the 416-acre facility where Chinook Ventures is currently operating. Utah-based Millennium plans to transport the coal by rail from mines in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming and Montana.
