The Port of Longview is on pace to double last year’s import and export tonnage, boosted by a continuing surge of log exports, port officials reported last week. … Log exports have doubled through August of this year, hitting 347,476 metric tons.

The port has received 106 ships through August, up nearly 40 percent from the previous year. Port of Longview longshoremen unloaded 12,391 rail cars through August, doubling last year’s total for the Jauary-August period.
