Though the article below is from a pro-privatization news source, Callao's longshore workers have protested DP World as "abusive" and "disrespectful of the law," and for "making a mockery of union longshore workers."

Peru’s private investment promotion agency ProInversion will award a project to modernize and operate Callao port’s Muelle Norte terminal by end-December, according to transport and communications (MTC) minister Enrique Cornejo.

Among the contract alterations were changes to requirements for participating firms bidding on the contract, stating that at least 51% of the winning firm must be controlled by a world-class port operator, Cornejo said.

The change, along with the requirement that bidding firms have experience handing 10mn TEUs/y, should ensure the project is awarded to a firm on par with neighboring Muelle Sur terminal’s operator, DP World, the minister added.
