The Palestinian trade union movement called on dockworkers worldwide to refuse to load or offload cargo from Israeli ships in response to Israel’s attack two weeks ago on a Gaza-bound humanitarian convoy in the Mediterranean.

“Dockworkers around the world have historically contributed to the struggle against injustice, most notably against the apartheid regime in South Africa, when port workers unions refused to load/offload cargo on/from South African ships as a most effective way of protesting the apartheid regime,” the unions said in a statement.

Last week the Swedish Dockworkers Union resolved to ban all Israeli ships and cargo to and from Israel in protest of Israel’s raid on the Gaza aid Flotilla.
