Potash industry hoping for better days in 2010

After a year characterized by a global restraint on potash purchases, a leading Canadian commodities specialist says worldwide shipments of the key fertilizer ingredient are set to rise in 2010. “China needs to buy so we’ll just have to see what kind of price is negotiated.” … Potash shipments are moving again as Brazil and countries in Southeast Asia fertilize fields for their growing season. Movement in the potash market south of the equator is a good indication global potash shipments will gain strength in 2010.
