CN Rail and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference announced that they had reached an agreement to end a strike by the rail engineers after just four days of job action by the union. Engineers went on strike after negotiations, which have been taking place for more than a year, broke off on November 27. … The announcement comes as the federal government was discussing back-to-work legislation … and non-union employees with experience had been running the trains to ensure the continued movement of freight. For its part, the Prince Rupert Port Authority says it is happy to hear the strike has ended and that certainty has returned to the line connecting Fairview Terminal with the U.S. Midwest.
